Testing 5 Panels: The Isle of Arran

Testing the water resistant material, Kildonan Coast, Isle of Arran

It all began with an idea. Shortly after having the first line of headwear manufactured, myself & two close friends embarked on a 4 day trip to Isle of Arran, Scotland. Giving my sample products had arrived in time, i packed up my van and we hit the road.

I had visited the island once before a couple of years ago, however, this was a first for my pals. We were treated to a spectacular trip, staying mostly dry apart from the odd patch of rain and a tremendous storm on the final evening. The Isle of Arran was the perfect backdrop to take photographs of my new caps, and test them out.

We wild camped at some excellent locations, one evening we were pitched on a small flat circle of grass ontop a ‘dyke’ on the southern coast of the island. We could see Harbor Seals hauling out (resting) on rocks from a distance, with Ailsa Crag & Pladda Island providing an excellent backdrop as the sun went down, we lit a firepit, ate & hit the bed.

Another evening we had decided to descend and backdoor our first plan to wild camp on the summit of Goat Fell, the winds had reached over 55mph and therefore we made a last minute exit down to Brodick Bay. We pitched up as the full moon rose and the lights started to become visible across the bay, some spectacular memories made!

I was in the midst of all weather conditions during the trip, and my Fellman cap i was impressed with. It had certainly held up to its water resistant properties & was breathable at the same time. Don’t get me wrong, wearing this cap during an utter downpour your head will get wet, but you can see the water drops roll of the structure of the 5 panel when hit. During some more light rainfall, my head stayed dry due to the inner coating construction of the cap.

The quality is superb, and my trip was a success. I look forward to sharing this product with you in the future.
